Paul was then hired by a Medicare Administrative Contractor to the role of chief medical officer to assist with post-acute care oversight under the Medicare program, where he was quickly recruited to help manage the MolDX program, and appointed to be the Director of Clinical Science under MolDX. While working for Palmetto, Paul continued his work in both roles. Paul then gained further medical device experience when he joined McDermott+ Consulting as a Vice President focusing on market access consulting. Paul advised laboratories, investors, and medical device manufacturers. At McDermott+ Consulting, Paul advised numerous medical AI companies leading to his initial serious experiences with AI in medicine. Paul came to appreciate of the potential of AI to improve patient outcomes in this role, but at the same time he also witnessed the challenges of creating AI that is useful in clinical practice. Paul’s enthusiasm to join ArteraAI came from seeing company founders that clearly understood how to apply AI for real world clinical problem solving.
